Luxury In the Anantara Jabal Al Akhdar Resort Oman
Driving up the mountain, slowly bending around the curves, while excitement is lingering in the air, My friend and I talk and already begin our plans for the resort stay. The website is full of activities, information, and extensive list of pampering we were really looking forward too!
Upon arrival, we are greeted with smiles by local Omani’s in their traditional clothing. They parked our Jeep and we entered trying to look like professional resort travelers, but instead, we were caught up in the amazement throughout the entry way and courtyard. After we are greeted and offered some fresh pomegranate and ginger water, dates, and Arabic coffee (cardamom flavored coffee called Qahwa), we were checked in.
    Â
Our bags disappear to our room and we spend a little bit walking around and admiring the beauty inside the resort. The landscape is like a garden tucked inside the mountain with bits of color and greens to appeal for the senses. The grounds are just big enough to still enjoy your privacy, but small enough to join in activities or walk around and admire the scenery. The modern design and combination of natural Omani beauty set this resort apart from the others in Oman.
   Â
First stop is the pool, a dip inside and then to relax with the postcard view of the Hajar Mountains in the infinity pool. It was perfectly relaxing and not crowded in April. Pair the pool with a spectacular view at sunset and you have the perfect tranquility moment in Oman.
 Â
The rooms are a great mixture of Omani traditions, modern amenities, and the best view in Oman of the mountains and the traditional mountain-side farms that smell of sweet flowers and fruits in bloom. Often, hotels overlook the small details that can set them apart from the others. At the Anantara, attention to the little things have included this cute little water holder and some high quality bath salts and toiletries! I love hotel goodies!
  Â
I could really go on forever about this luxurious stay, but I will hit the highlights and invite you to come pamper yourself here.
Service– the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Johannes, the manager checked on us frequently and was seen all around the resort.
Food- The buffet is a foodies’ paradise for lunch. The flavors and fresh grilled items were a carnivores dream, but you could also make the pickiest of vegetarians happy with the variety of mixed salads and veggie delights! Don’t skip on the fresh juices and delicate sweet treats. Breakfast is also very nice, sit outside on the patio for another great view. (There is a fresh honey comb station!)
 Â
Spa– great services along with an indoor island shower treat- singing and lights dancing with the water! A very special treat! Do not miss this! More fresh fruit, water, and tea at the indoor pool area to keep you going after you relax and de-stress.
     Â
Bikes- complimentary bicycles to ride around the resort or the local village just outside the resort, OK maybe not with the wine inside, but it doesn’t hurt to ask!
   Â
Location- This area is the prime location on the top of Al Jebel Akdar, and just a 10 minute walk around to a local village to see the pomegranate and roses in full Spring bloom! It’s also a great hiking area and the best route to see the Omani farming plateus up close.

In India, we call Kashmiri tea ‘Qahwa’, while in Oman you mentioned that Qahwa is coffee. Interesting! The resort seems pretty good and the location is lovely too. Did you have all your meals there? How would you rate the food?

Thank you for sharing this wonderful resort. It is truly admirable and your photos are also stunning. The place reminded me of the Phoenix Hotel in Indonesia where I stayed. I commend this place and I think this place is very popular too.

This hotel looks like an absolute dream! I’ve been to Oman airport a few times on the way to other countries, but haven’t ever visited the actual country. I’m definitely intrigued by the fresh honeycomb station..
