The most amazing 5 star resort in Muscat Oman is only a 30 minute drive from the airport.
Make sure you have a full charge on your camera or cell phone upon arrival. It sits in the beautiful mountains overlooking the Arabian Sea, with a fabulous journey just to reach here. Be prepared to snap photos on your way to the resort, as well all over their magnificent grounds! Prepare to be completely spoiled princess style!
The scenery itself is really worth booking a stay here! When you arrive through the arched gates, you don’t want to miss the perfect picture overlooking the water on your left from high up on the mountain. This is an award-winning shot I’m sure, pull over and grab a few for your future photography contests or your social media accounts!

Booking:
The Resort has 3 different hotel choices to fit every budget or vacation needs. An enjoyable stay can be had at all three of the properties, I’ve tried two of them so far. My favorite part of the Shangri-La is with the Al Husn Hotel and is for adults only with a private infinity pool and beach area. Sometimes, you need a break and to be kid-free!
In addition to the scenery, the resort is a masterpiece in time with a combination of Cathedral-like windows and colorful ceiling tiles that would make Morocco jealous. Elegance, artistic, and eco-friendly are a great combination to set the scene in the lobby and throughout the hotel premises. Upon arrival, the flowers are in bloom and lush green plants line the roads and paths around the property. It’s hard to believe you are in the middle of the desert!  Â
Accommodation Style:
The rooms are very spacious with comfortable beds and lots of big fluffy pillows. Most rooms come with an amazing views of the water and hotel grounds (198 rooms facing the sea at Al Banda Hotel), or you can grab a pool-side room and jump in within feet of your patio. There is a lazy river that you can float on and forget all of your stress. I think there are more adults than kids in this area. This one is kid-friendly and has lots of activity choices for kids and families (part of the Al Waha Hotel)
The staff is very friendly and can suggest things to do or answer any questions you have for a memorable stay. On the property you can enjoy many of the fine dining restaurants, coffee shop, multiple buffets (My favorite in Muscat with the largest shrimp here!), amazing pools, beaches a few feet away, turtle watching when in season, water activities, gym, spa, and so much more. You never really have to leave the resort if you choose, there is so much here to do and see.
Transportation:
A taxi ride from the airport is about 20 OR. When you get a taxi, negotiate your price before you get in (orange and white taxis). You can also download an app called Mawasalat or Otaxi (similar to Uber) but pay in cash.Â
The Shangri-La is one of my top 3 hotel picks since I have been traveling abroad. It might be one of yours also!
