4 Days in Tropical St. Kitts

Hello, St. Kitts!

What a cool little island getaway and a nice 4 days of tropical island exploring! I was lucky and invited to a wedding in St. Kitts. So of course, I said YES! Here are some of the activities I found, places to go, and of course food and beaches!

Don’t forget to try the Tang! YUMMMMM!

Beach Time!

Shipwreck Beach Bar and Grill:
This beach has black sand that does get hot to the touch. Great contrast to the clear water and blue skies. Grab a lounge chair early for a few bucks fee. The beach wasn’t crowded at all. I met a few college students there and a few travelers. There are taxis drivers hanging out so you can leave when you are ready. We found conk shells, other shell, sea snakes or Eels, starfish and tons of all colored fish. The snorkeling is decent but not the best, wear water shoes because of the sea urchins. They have a dock about 30 feet out you can swim too for some sunbathing or jumping contest with your friends.

You can socialize with the local monkeys, they love to share bananas. This spot also has some great views of the island and shoreline. The bar/grill area has some t-shirts and a few other things for sale.
At the grill- save room to try their fabulous choices! I had jerk fish and it was amazing! Cooked to perfection with a spicy kick island style. Don’t slack on the drinks, grab a non-alcoholic Tang or a strong island punch with a great liquor kick! Good prices with a great view make this beach a nice spot for a beach visit!

Reggae Beach Bar- This beach has more of a local feel and less touristy. It’s a small beach area with chairs and umbrella. They serve food and also drinks. More families were here than I thought based on the name. I expected more tourists and party people. There is a dock with a few options for wave runner rentals or a trip around the area (for a fee). According the the sign, no massages are permitted… darn!

Where to stay:

Hotel:
We stayed at The Marriot, which was settled right on the beach with great access. The beach was pretty empty, but the pool usually had some people. They also were teaching scuba techniques in the pool if you need an update before hitting the water. The grounds were large with an event going on every night. The rooms were nice and big with a sunny island feel that fit right in for vacation. The staff was friendly and very helpful. It was a good location and easy to grab a taxi to explore around. Most of the taxis were around 6-8 bucks across the island.

Bed and Breakfast:
One of my favorite places in St Kitts was the Bellmont Farms. Not only is It a magnificent view, but it also is a “green” farm and sustainable natural community. Enjoy the ever so fresh farm to table meals, bed and breakfast, organic fruits and veggies, wonderful local people, and amazing atmosphere.
Their website explains their purpose and ideas: “Kittitian Hill is a pioneering community in the West Indies with a passion for sustainable living. Enjoy beautiful boutique hotels, villas and the world’s most edible golf course, set in 400 acres of organic tropical farmland”.

Where to Eat!

St Kitts Marshalls Restaurant

Marshall’s is a spot tucked away in between some townhouses on a winding road. The locals and tourist both love this place! Fresh food and amazing spices! Maybe the bartender will let you have a go at making your own drink. This is a great date spot or even a “food with a view” review. The window panoramic view is spectacular!

What to See and Do:

Go to a cricket match! Tour the island all the way to the top for the most spectacular views! Walk through the local shops and weekend market areas. Explore the marina, take a ride on a ferry boat or sail away! Go to the casino inside the Marriot Hotel and try your luck!

What were your top things to see and do in St. Kitts?

 Did you go to Nevis?

Cheers! GoGo Everywhere!
